Christa McAuliffe Academy, CMA, located in Yakima WA, closed in June of 2009 due to the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and Washington State Board of Education denying the annual application for private school status. While the office had approved the school over the previous 10 years as an online academy, the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and Washington State Board of Education stated that the current regulations at that time did not support the approval of an online school.
